Otxandiano calls for the electoral interests of the parties to be set aside and for action to be taken from a popular perspective

As part ofyesterday's round of contacts with political parties and social partners, the lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, met today withthespokesman for EH Bildu in the Basque Parliament, Pello Otxandiano , who previously received the socialist Eneko Andueza and later with the jeltzale Joseba Diez Antxustegi.

In a media appearance just after the meeting, Otxandiano explained the messages he sent to the lehendakari, among which he said that "at such a complex and uncertain historical moment " Euskal Herria needs "movement."  "Here you need movement. This is not the time for rhetoric, it is not the time for lyrical." 

On this path, Otxandiano believes that "the time has come to reach an agreement "on the new political status for the ACV, and has been optimistic about the open negotiations between the major parties." There are opportunities for basic political consensus in these three countries that are strategic for the future. There is a soil. There are conditions and there is something that we all share. There is a minimum political culture here, unlike in some places.

It also sees a danger in the run-up to next year's elections that this legislature will be repaid in order to stifle these three countries in an electoral process that would last for a year and a half, a serious mistake.

Faced with this, he added, there are two possibilities : "We must decide whether we are merely the electoral assets of our parties, so that we are the protagonists of the movements that this country needs."

Seven moves.

In all, EH Bildu has proposed to the Lehendakari to carry out seven political movements: define the strategy for the promotion of large-scale public housing, Anternational labour dispute, define industrial strategy,  accelerate policies to mitigate climate change, aDefine Basque migration policy,\u00Develop our capabilities in the face of the advent of the Artificial Dim and universalize access and opportunity to learn Euskera.

The coalition is convinced that if these movements were to take place "by mutual agreement in the A0 partnership, these three countries would be placed on a different stage."

After the parties, it will be the turn of the unions. Pradales will meet on Friday with the leaders of the UGT and CCOO plants; the leaders of LAB and ELA next Monday; and finally, the president of the Confebask employers, Tamara Yagüe, on Tuesday.
