Victims of male violence

After the separation of her parents, Deiane Vazquez was the victim of her father's violence between the ages of 4 and 14. One of the teachers at the Ikastola realized that something was happening and Deiane told her about the hell she was living in her father's house.

The victims include four women killed by their partners, a minor girl murdered by her father and two older women killed by their children.

In an institutional declaration issued this Tuesday on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Office of the Ombudsman of the Basque Country has denounced that male violence "continues to take the lives of the unburned every year" and "attacks the physical and moral integrity and dignity of women directly affected by this violence". 

The victim has been treated in a health facility and the detainee will be brought before the court.

Residents of the town of Rincón de la Victoria have warned of an altercation at around 10:20 a.m. When the officers arrived, they found the 60-year-old woman dead with signs of violence.

Of these, 374 were sexually assaulted, including 4 out of 10 minors. Between January and September 2025, 299 women were treated for sexual assault. 

The arrested man hit the woman and her brother with his vehicle on Sunday and the victims were taken to Baiona hospital.

Feminist associations are preparing the demonstrations of theInternational Dayfor the Elimination of Violence against Women . The Euskal Herria Feminist Movement has called demonstrations in the capitals of Hego Euskal Herria at 19:00 and in Baiona at 18:30. 

Both in Vitoria-Gasteiz and in Basque society as a whole, the case caused a chill in 2023. While pregnant, 13 were allegedly stabbed to death by her former partner in the presence of her 2-year-old daughter Maialen. The jury will soon be elected and a date will be set for the trial in the first semester of 2026.

Minister Ana Redondo said that "no victim" who suffers from male violence and uses this system "has been helpless" and that "the data is coming in time and form."

"Violence is also hidden in everyday life. Let's make it visible," will be the motto of Navarre in front of the 25-N, in a campaign against any form of control, discrimination and devaluation of women. Taberna Vice President presents a campaign of the Foral Government to denounce the psychological, economic and symbolic violence suffered by many women in their daily lives.

The neighbours called the National Police to report a strong quarrel in the couple's home. When a patrol came to the scene, they found the woman's body with stab wounds. The alleged murderer has already been arrested.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested provisional detention, reported and without bail, for a crime of sexual assault (rape) with penetration of a child under the age of 16.

The woman's 47-year-old victim's comrades found her body with signs of violence on the same farm where she worked and lived. The woman's daughter informed the Civil Guard last week that the detainee had threatened her mother after announcing her marriage to another person.

The Basque Government has presented the results of the second part of its study on violence against women throughout their lives, which this time includes the analysis of workplace harassment, sexual harassment, continued harassment and cyberharassment. 

Neighbors helped the victim and held the attacker until Ertzaintza officers arrived.

The Hondarribia City Council and the Gipuzkoa Council call on the citizens to participate in the rally that will take place on Saturday, March 8, at 6 p.m.

The Basque Government's Department of Security stated yesterday that the alleged murderer "has a police record related to gender-based violence".
