Euskadi will change its mooring system and reward citizenship, sustainability and the presence of women

The Basque Government has renewedthe system of allocation of mooring and terrestrial places for recreational and nautical nautical vessels in the Basque Country, presented by the Minister for Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, Amaia Barredo, which replaces the regulations in force since 2017.

The new system will set a scale of up to 100 points, including the applicant's connection to the environment, seniority on waiting lists and registration in the municipality or neighbouring villages.

In addition, 5 points will be awarded to women applicantsand 5 points to women under 35. The sustainability of the vessel can reach 10 points, and historic vessels will receive 5 points.

Mooring posts in predetermined modules

Mooring posts shall be arranged according to the modules and shall be determined in advance in each call according to the length and width of the vessels, and in the case of floating places the maximum depth shall be taken into account.

In the event of a tie in the score, a draw shall be made before a notary.

More open waiting lists

The new regulations will also change the management of waiting lists, which will be linked to each mooring module and willremain open until a new call is published, allowing new applications to be included.

According to Barredo, the regulation aims tomake the system "more transparent, flexible and realistic."
