The genocide in Gaza is a rounded business for companies in many countries, according to a UN report
Francesca Albanes examines about 50 companies in the arms, technical, infrastructure and tourism industry. The list of companies benefiting from Israeli occupation policies includes the Basque company CAF.
Many multinationals make huge gains from "violence, assassinations, amputations and destruction in Gaza and elsewhere in the occupied Palestinian territories." The genocide has blown up the profits of the Tel Aviv stock exchange, which has risen 213% in 20 months. The Israeli stock exchange has made $76.8 billion.
Profitability is primarily concerned with surveillance and security businesses and arms producers . "The West gives arms to Israel, adapts them and then sells them," Albanes explained.
"Palestine is the scene of a crime that has the fingerprints of all of us through what we buy, the companies that we decide to secure our homes and our cars, the banks where we put our money and the investments we make," he told Geneva after presenting the report.
In addition to the war industry, global technologies like IBM, Microsoft, Google, Palantir and Amazon also occupy a special place in the report, because the systems and technologies they sell make it easier to go against Palestinian rights in one way or another. They collect biometric data, produce tools used in prisons and security operations, and provide artificial intelligence used by Israel for military purposes, among others.
UNITED NATIONS REPORT
Summary of the report prepared by the UN envoy
According to a report by the Palestinian rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, Israel's genocide "benefits" Blackrock, Vanguard, IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Palantir Caterpillar, Hyundai, Volvo, Glencore, Drummond, BP and Chevron, among others.
In addition, the rapporteur recalls that CAF has formed a consortium with two companies on a list of the UN Human Rights Bureau operating in settlements built in the Palestinian territories.
"The colonies are connected to Israel by that railway line, and this is illegal, it shouldn't happen. This company facilitates the replacement of the Palestinians and strengthens settlements, "he said.
In the tourism sector, Albanes highlights the Airbnb and Booking platforms in the report for "advertising nice homes in stolen land settlements. Let's plan the holidays differently. "
The rapporteur has sent the report to the above-mentioned companies, following the UN procedure, but 'very few' have replied that they are doing nothing wrong. None of them have shown a willingness to rethink their business or stop their investments.
Albanes said states should stop selling arms to Israel and all Mediterranean countries should send humanitarian aid to Gaza by boat.
