Flotilla activists accuse Israel of mistreatment: "They tried to bow down and insult us."
To the question of whether they thought they were going to kill him, an activist replied, "Personally yes," "There have been moments when I thought, they're going to kill me here."
The Spaniards of the Global Sumud Flotilla 21 who have arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport have denouncedthe mistreatment of the Israeli Government , where they claim they have tried to "humiliate and insult us".
"A colleague said he felt that we would be vagabonds of Palestinians, and we have that feeling left after all that he has lived through, because there has been a process of continuous dehumanization, of trying to blame for what was there, believing that we have committed acts of hostility all the time, even taking away our sleep (...) We have found a situation on their part to try to humiliate and insult, "some activists said in statements to the media.
In this regard, they have explained that they arrived "in a state of complete helplessness" and that they have experienced a "continuous escalation" of violence, since, in their words, they have been denied "the right to health care", have had no drinking water, and have even been denied sleep.
"We arrived with these clothes because they didn't let us change (...) We opened the water because they told us we could take the water from the tap, but there was gray water, the water in the form of coffee. You couldn't drink that, but they didn't care," they said, criticizing that "some women" had no medication or had not given it to them.
Asked if they were afraid to die, an activist replied, "Personally yes" "There have been moments that I thought, they're going to kill me here."
However, they have confirmed that they would "undoubtedly" join another flotilla and, doubting whether it has served any purpose, Mr Juan Bordera, a member of parliament from Jerusalem, has said that he believes that "something has changed in the collective unconscious." The crew of the flotilla have arrived at the terminal with their arms raised and shouted "Long live the flotilla!"
On the other hand, Global Sumid Flotilla spokesman Saif Abukeshh has insisted that there has been a lack of information in thedetention process, which has caused "concern" among families, although he is proud of the ship's members.
"We reiterate that throughout the detention process so far we lacked sufficient information through the consulate, adding concern for the organization and its families," he explained.
"As long as Israel has no consequences for the crimes it is committing, it will continue to commit crimes (...) we promise to continue, and we will not stop until the genocide and blockade of Gaza ends," he said.
