Zelenski and E3 leaders have concluded their meeting in London with little progress, at a "critical moment"
Ukraine's president has said, however, that there have been "small steps towards peace" and hopes to return the revised version of Trump's plan to the US soon. After the meeting, the Ukrainian president has travelled to Brussels, where he will have a meeting with von der Leyen, Costa and Rutte on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany and France have concluded their meeting in London on Monday with "small steps towards peace," eta expressing their hope that a revised version of US President Donald Trump's peace plan will be returned to the US tomorrow evening.
"I think the plan will be ready sometime tomorrow afternoon. I think we're going to review it and send it to the United States," Zelenski told the media before the meeting. There are two key points to define: the territorial situation in Ukraine and the international security guarantees that Kiev will have in the post-war period.
Zelenski, Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are clear about the importance of Ukraine having "strong security guarantees."
Another issue addressed by the four leaders has been the use of Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine . In this regard, they stress that the meeting has brought "positive progress" and that there will be more meetings in the coming days.
In general, the leaders agree that the situation is at a "critical moment" and that "it is necessary to increase Ukraine's support and maintain pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end this barbarity of war."
Call to international partners
Zelenski and Starmer have spoken together on behalf of all Ukraine's international allies, referring to Finland, Italy, Poland, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and the Presidents of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen.
"We are coordinating to ensure that the voice of Europe is taken into account on all issues," Zelenski explained in his X account, where he said the allies have been informed of "contacts with the United States and the work done on all the proposals currently on the table."
The Ukrainian President is already in Brussels, where he will hold a meeting tomorrow with Von der Leyen, Costa and Rutte. On his social media account, Zelensky has insisted that cooperation with Ukraine's security is "particularly crucial" at the moment.
