The Zinebi Festival will reward Pablo Berger and Esther Garcia
The 67th edition of the Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival will begin on November 21 and close on November 28 with a closing gala and awards ceremony.

The 67th edition of the Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival ZINEBI will begin on November 21 with the opening gala of the Arriaga Theatre, which will last until November 28, when the closing ceremony and award ceremony will take place.
A total of 156 films (132 short, 6 medium and 18 feature films, 41 of them Basque productions) can be seen in the Official Section and in the other sections.
The Official Section is essentially an international short film competition, while the rest are Beautiful Docs – Panorama of Documentaries of the World (Werner Herzog, Gianfranco Rosi, Rita Azevedo Gomes...); Local Looks, composed of short and feature films produced in the Basque Country; and other special sessions.
For the Official Section, Zinebi has selected 58 films, 19 films, 19 documentaries and 20 animated works, including Basque productions such as "The Body of Christ" (Bea Lema, 2025), "What Remains" (Aitor Gametxo, 2025), "Industrial Havana" (Ainhoa Ordóñez Yralagoitia, 2025), "Le prime volte" (Giulia Cosentino & Perla Sardella, 2025)
The festival will also highlight the professional career of bilbaíno filmmaker Pablo Berger and Spanish producer Esther García, recently awarded the Donostia Prize, with two awards.
The feature films "Llámame Sinsorga" (Marta Gómez and Paula Iglesias), "Petrus" (Helena Bengoetxea), "Txillarreko Sukaldaria" (Asier Ibaibarriaga and Edurne San Martín), "Eloy de la Iglesia, adicto al cine" (Gaizka Urrei) and "Akarre" (Xabier Zabala).
As for the short films, the Arriaga Theatre will host four sessions in which you will be able to watch five works and 28 more films competing in the Official Section, including those of filmmakers Lara Izagirre, Lur Olaizola, Maider Fernández Iriarte, Ander Reviejo, Pablo Palomera and Aitor Abio.
These short ones will be eligible for the EITB Public Award (3,000 euros), the Young Jury Award (2,000 euros) and the Emen – Mirentxu Loyarte Prize (2,000 euros).
Zinebi will announce its palmaris on November 28, and tickets and bonuses for the festival are already on sale. In addition, Zinebi will extend its projections to the free digital platform EITB Primeran, which will make available to all citizens a selection of Basque production films that have been shown in previous editions of the festival.
