Werner Herzog, Donostia Award
The German director, screenwriter, producer and actor will be awarded one of the Festival's most prestigious honorary awards, which Herzog will receive at the opening ceremony and present his latest film, Bucking Fastard.
The San Sebastian Film Festival has announced that filmmaker Werner Herzog will be awarded the 74th edition ofthe San Sebastian Award, which will be held from 18 to 26 September. His career is considered one of the greatest influences of contemporary cinema and will receive the award in recognition of it at the opening ceremony.
In addition to the tribute, Herzog will present his new film at the Festival, Bucking Fastard, which arrives in San Sebastian after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
Director, screenwriter, producer and actor, Herzog is one of the most significant figures in German cinema and has more than half a century of filmography that combines fiction and documentary with titles that have left a deep mark on the history of the seventh art.
With this award, the San Sebastian Festival adds a new name to the list of winners of the Donostia Prize, an honorary award that distinguishes annually the contribution to the cinema of the great figures of the world cinema.
