Film Festival announces six more films competing for the Golden Shell
Works by Jesse Eisenberg and Fred Cavaye, among others, will be added to the ten previously announced titles in the Official Film Festival Section.
The new films by Fred Cavaye, Jesse Eisenberg, Amanda Kernell and Gabriel Martins, along with their debuts in feature films by Ah Biao and Tony Vahl, will compete in the Official Section of the 74th edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Ah Biao (China, 1990) Bian jing / Border
The first feature film of the director, screenwriter and director of photography based in Bangkok is set in a border town where a miner who has had a hard life from abuse is forced to commit a crime.
Fred Cavaye (France, 1967) Les Misérables
The French screenwriter and director will compete with a new adaptation of Victor Hugo's Wretches , starring Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim and Noémie Merlant, among others.
Jesse Eisenberg (United States, 1983) The Debut
In Eisenberg's third feature film as director, The Debutfollows a shy housewife who has become a music star, written, directed and produced by Eisenberg himself, who is the composer of music and original lyrics.
Amanda Kernell (Sweden, 1986) Garrat du váimmu/Brace Your Heart
In the Swedish director's film, a young woman does everything she can to keep her family's reindeer flock alive.
Gabriel Martins (Brazil, 1987) Vicentina pede desculpa s/On Behalf of My Son
In the Brazilian's third feature film, a woman seeks forgiveness from families affected by an accident caused by her son.
Tony Vahl () Krux
Based on real facts, Vahl's debut in the feature film tells the dark story of a small town in northeastern Germany at the end of World War II.
