The short film "Correct me if I'm wrong" has won the Zinebi Grand Prix
Hao Zhou's documentary short film "Correct Me If I'm Wrong" (Germany, China, USA) has won the Grand Prix of the 67 edition of the Bilbao International Film and Short Film Festival, Zinebi, with 8,000 euros.
The film "examines the weight of family expectations and the wrong love behind them," according to a jury composed of Ramia Beladel, Callisto McNulty, Norika Sefa, Daniel Šuljić and Santiago Tabernero, and "expresses with wonderful prosperity that the pursuit of normality — conformism towards heterosexuality — can become absurd."
The palmaris of the Official Section is composed of the Grand Prix for the Best Basque Short Film for "Industrial Havana", by Ainhoa Ordóñez Yraolagoitia, for "turning the night of Havana into a hypnotic trance", as well as the film "What Remains" by Aitor Gametxo, winner of the Spanish Grand Prix for the Best Short Film, for turning the mother's absence into "an exciting poetic act on identity."
The Mikeldi Award for Best Animation Short has been for "Should Virtual Petz Die?" and "Once in a Body" by María Cristina Pérez González has received special mention.
The Mikeldi Award for Best Short Documentary has been awarded to "A Reconnaissance" (Germany, Denmark) by Stefan Kruse, and the Mikeldi Award for Best Short Fiction Film has been awarded to "As If to Nothing" (Singapore) by Pek Jia Hao and Ang Jia Jun.
The closing gala of Zinebi will take place today, Friday, at 7.30 p.m. in the Arriaga, where Spanish producer Esther Garcia will receive the Mikeldi de Honor, as she did at the inaugural gala of Pablo Berger.
