Marlaska claims 70,000 of the 75,000 people who entered Ceuta have returned to Morocco
In order to provide urgent care for minors who have arrived in the autonomous city during this migration crisis, the Spanish Government will allocate an additional EUR 25 million to Ceuta.
The majority ofthe 72,000 migrants who arrived in Ceuta last Thursday, some 70,000, have returned to Morocco . The Spanish Government will now examine one by one the situation of those who have remained in the autonomous city to decide whether or not to return to their country of origin.
This information wasprovided by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, during a hearing following his meeting with his counterparts in the European Union. He said that his European colleagues had expressed their "solidarity" with Spain in the face of the migration crisis that erupted in Ceuta and that everyone had stressed the need to continue working "relentlessly" against illegal networks.
During his hearing, the minister insisted that no notice or report from the CNI intelligence service had been received beforehand warning that thousands of people could enter Ceuta.
Recognition of European Members
Marlaska has also explained that she has received recognition from European partners for Spain's "rapid" and "timely" response to the crisis.
The Minister of the Interior has praised the work of the Spanish Government in managing migration and has ensured that, by placing life in the person at the centre, 'orderly migration 'takes precedence, not forgetting' the fight against mafias'.
Additional item of EUR 25 million to Ceuta
The head of the Ministry of the Interior has announced that the Spanish Government will allocate an additional EUR 25 million to Ceuta for the urgent care of unaccompanied migrant minors who have arrived in the city during this migration crisis.
According to the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, an extraordinary item will be made available to add to the 5.5 million allocated to the autonomous city at the Sectoral Conference on Children and Adolescents in July.
