According to the Australian Government, teenagers are under increasing pressure in digital environments, and early exposure to social media can aggravate problems of anxiety, low self-esteem, or school isolation.

According to the NGO Save the Children, more than 520 million children lived in conflict zones by 2024. Africa is the most affected region: 32% of all children on that continent live under armed violence. By 2024, an average of 78 children were killed, abducted, sexually assaulted and mutilated on a daily basis, among others.

The Provincial Council has opened a punitive file against Sarrea Euskal Udaleku Elkartea for "failure to comply with two obligations" of the regulations: not to inform the competent department  of the activity and not to transmit the requested documentation to the Council. The sick children and their 73 companions have been taken to the Israeli-Jordan border and handed over by the Israeli authorities to a team from the Spanish Ministry of Health.

The file shall be opened in conjunction with the investigation opened by Examining Court No. 3 of Vitoria-Gasteiz and shall be suspended if the case finally reaches criminal proceedings.
