Israel says it has killed "essential people" of the Iranian regime
Tehran has raised the victims to 85 at a school in Minab and described the joint offensive between Israel and the United States as a "barbaric act."
Israel claims to have killed "a number of people essential to the management of the Iranian Government" after attacking "simultaneously" at three points where meetings of senior officials of the regime were held. According to an Israeli military officer, the operation has been based on a plan developed for months by the Intelligence Directorate to identify the moment when the top officials agreed.
According to the same source, Israel and the United States have launched a wave of attacks on "hundreds" of targets on Iranian territory. The explosions took place in Tehran and the cities of Tabriz and Isfahan, among others.
At the same time, the Iranian authorities have confirmed that 85 people have already died as a result of the bombing of a women's primary school in the city of Minab.
Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian has described the bombing as a "barbaric act" and described the death of "dozens of innocent students" as "another black page" in what he described as a long list of crimes against the country.
In addition, at least 15 people have been killed in a bombing of a gym near the Persian Gulf, according to IRIB public television. According to initial estimates, the number of victims is likely to be higher. The Iranian media has attributed the attack to the United States and Israel, and has indicated that at the time of the crash children were playing and practicing sports.
Following the attacks, Iran has fired missiles and drones at US military bases in the region and on Israeli territory, according to the Revolutionary Guard. In Israel, the authorities have reported a slight injury in the coastal city of Haifa, while air alarms have struck several parts of the country.
