Representatives of Israel and Lebanon will hold the third round of peace talks in Washington, USA, on 14 and 15 May, a US State Department official reported on Thursday.

At least three people have been killed this Thursday in new Israeli Army bombings in southern Lebanon. These attacks have violated the ceasefire that has been in force since mid-April, and mutual attacks by both sides in recent weeks have shaken the peace agreement.
The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that two people were killed in the attack on a truck in the Nabatiye area. The third victim died in the Safa area in the bombing of a truck.
The Israeli Army has confirmed that an attack in the Dahiya neighbourhood of Beirut has killed Ahmed Qalib Balut, commander of the elite unit of the Shia group.
On the other hand, the Italian Ministry of Defence has reported that a rocket has attacked a UN mission headquarters in southern Lebanon, the base of the Italian contingent , which, according to sources, has caused minor damage to a military vehicle, although no injuries have been reported.
Third round of peace talks in Washington
Despite the resurgence of the conflict, a US State Department official has announced that representatives of Israel and Lebanon will begin the third round of peace talks in Washington on 14 and 15 May.
Regional tension escalated on March 2 following Hezbollah's attacks on Israel in response to the death of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, Israel has embarked on the invasion of Lebanon, which has since caused more than 2,700 deaths and 8,400 injuries.
